What I feel needs to be pointed out is that there were a lot of areas where variables could change the results. My tyres are low profiles with quite a noticeable difference in circumference to standard n/a's. Also, the rollers, ambient air temp, the way the chap operated the throttle could all have been slightly different for each vehicle.
Also it's worth mentioning that factories set the engines up to be a compromise between economy, speed and comfort. Any mods will affect one at the detriment to the others to achieve what you desire-

Loving the debate though- very interesting

Would my 17" low profile tyres give me a higher result than 'real life'?
If the correction factor is entered into the dyno computer, you should still end up with "real life values". However if it can't be done that way, quote your exact tyre size, I can then calculate the correction factor needed to be applied to the dyno test value. The resultant would be pretty close.

Mentioned earlier in the discussion  .

Yes, these are valid comments, however, as everyone was in the same boat, not a factor to worry about in this particular instance.

As long as his foot was flat, the only difference would come from a result either sooner or later, but the same value in the end.

There's a little man inside the airbox who collects the stray horses in the air. He sorts them, meters them for speed, torque, power and noise and herds them in as he sees fit. If they go galloping in where he sends them your car will go well. Sometimes the horses run away and become 'lost horses'. The others burn up and come out the exhaust pipe. Sometimes horses from the engine bay see the horses being utilised and try to join in. Hence the 'extra' horses. Hope this explains it all Chris
