Just a quick note from Blyton Park came through today. Kindly, the people running the event on Saturday say we are welcome to park up and use the cafe. Also they are happy for us to do a slow convoy lap of the track, if we wish. Would you like to do that? Bear in mind it is the old runway, I thought that might be a nice photo opportunity.

Also think cover shots, portrait mode or lots of blank space

Will do Pete.

We've had a lot of very kind support from the venues this time. Blyton offering use of the facilities and the convoy. Wickenby Aerodrome have a classic Piper day on so we'll see a lot of planes there while we eat and meet up. East Kirkby are letting us park on the museum site, in front of the Lancaster's hangar and will, at the very least open the doors for a photo opportunity (I'm not allowed to tell you what they are trying to organise, yet...) and the RSPB have given us exclusive access to walk the ruined Woodhall Spa airfield.

We might miss some of the BBMF as Torbay airshow is on this weekend. However, I'll know better when we get to Saturday what they're doing. The Red Arrows are flying out from Scampton that morning, we have a very good chance of seeing them.

Please don't forget your cameras!

BTW I haven't booked a meal as we didn't have enough interested. If however you'd like to join me and my passenger for a meal, contact me and I'll get a table booked nearby.

If anyone is interested in reading up about some of the history, I am including a brief document in the pack. However there's more to read here that might set the scene.

https://d-dayrevisited.co.uk/d-day-history/d-day-landings/operation-overlord/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Gibson

http://www.bcar.org.uk/heritage-airfields

The new route takes us past past fourteen RAF airfields but, astonishingly, within a mile of twenty-eight!

I have finished the trophy!

I’ll award this for the best photo of the day. It is a very special trophy so it’s going to be awarded annually- it won’t be yours to keep forever. Sorry, you’ll understand why when you see it.

As close to Blyton as you can try to fill up with petrol. Lincolnshire isn’t blessed with a huge number of petrol stations and I’d hate for you to run out. We’re aiming to begin the run at 9. Text me if you’re not going to be there by 9. I think you all have my mobile number but email me if you don’t, or if you didn’t receive the run instructions.
