Hello, Im New to the Forum, so i appreciate any feedback in advance.
I have owned and rebuild Porsches before, however i need some help with a strange 924S Le mans i recently Purchased. If you take a look at the photos attached you will see a nakered 924S with what i assumed to be fake RED Le-mans stickers on it, and RED centre caps, which have not corroded over time so i suspect they were a factory paint job, however i bought it anyway as it was a steal.
Upon further investigation i discovered the option sticker in the Boot. And it holds the magic 3 digit 755 option code among others.
My main question is, has anyone came across a Le-mans with a C48 country code? i have read somewhere that it was Hong Kong, and this would make sense as my old man pointed out that Red is a lucky colour in China and might explain the (what i think now are genuine) stickers.

Has anyone got any information on how many of these Lemans were produced for the Asian Market? And wether they had Red decals from the factory. :hope:

Thanks

It would only have been badged as a Le Mans for the UK market, elsewhere it would have been called by something else, Spirit in Spain, Sport I think in the far east, and Exclusive in Europe and something else (Special Edition?)in USA, specifications would be slightly different.

I have never came across one of these 924S before. I somehow find it difficult to believe that Porsche had wheel centre caps with a color different than the wheels themselves, in fact I cant recall seeing anything as such , factory issue, in any Porsche ever but i might be wrong ....

It would be interesting to see a close pic of these centre caps as well as the side decals.

C48 seems to be the code for HK.

From a quick Google I find that C15 is Hong Kong.
Would the country codes have changed at some point?

755 is Le Mans Mike

There are a few people (at least three) that confirmed that C48 tied up with being Hong Kong for the first owner/registration but usually there were indications that the actual purchase was made outside of Hong Kong so perhaps a special code was assigned?

I've never found a country code list, however old, that had C48, they all have C15.

Yes To be Honest i am Baffled by the C48, and also G55 and G56 that are also on the sticker. I can only find the above references to HongKong aswell. I have been on the Phone to Porsche UK in Reading but they wont share any info without the car being registered in my name so il be doing that today then attempting to get to the bottom of it.
I will Post some close ups of the Centre Caps and Decals Tomorrow. In my opinion they seem too good to be an afterthought, and i know what you mean, i dont like to stereotype but red centre caps are a bit 17 year old Chav...not Porsche! But i was thinking it might be an Asian market thing.

One way or another your car is a limited edition, rare car anyways  . I pressure the car sticker has this original paint code , given the limited edition code as well its pretty safe to conclude that there was a Le Mans in these colors and hence this - unique' perhaps Le mans side decal . And wheel centre caps (?) . Do these centre caps have similar red color to the slde decal 'Lemans' strips ?

The two well known editions of the 924S Lemans both had color coded teledials ( and not painted wheel centre caps iirc) , are there any traces of color in your teledials ?

Look forward to see more pics
