I'm getting a manual rack for my 87 924S tomorrow and fitting it next weekend, so my power rack and ancilliaries (ie: pump) will be available.

I think it has a slight leak so may need some seals/a recondition, but the major bonus is I am just south of Coningsby :-D

That sounds perfect!!!
Im in Brant Broughton near RAF Cranwell so 30 mins ride out.
Why are you changing to a manual rack?
Was it noisy? or just leaking?
Let me know what price you have in mind.

Heres my mobile number so we can plan a collection 07584 483423

I've upgraded the ARB and am adding new black powerflex bushes, and I noticed on a previous MOT the replacement of the bush due to swelling (which would have been caused by a leaking power steering pump/tank).
There's a little fluid, hence the suggestion to look at the seals, but it works fine with no noise.

My main motivation is because my 924S is a track car, and I like to remove as many driver aids as is reasonable

Hopefully will remove it this weekend and I can send you pics and so forth.

Cheers :-)

Possible issue : the manual rack doesn't fit.

I'm working on it, but worse case scenario is the power steering goes back on and I can't help you. Watch this space :bang:

It looks like I now have two sources for a manual rack, so here are some photos of the power rack and ancilliaries taken off my 924S.
The fourth picture shows two pipes (one flexi, one solid) that got mangled during the removal - my understanding is you can do without and bypass them, I assume they are for cooling the power steering fluid in hotter climes (they reside in the drivers side corner of the valance normally, the solid pipe looking like a kettle element).

Let me know if you are still after it, it all worked fine.

Track rod ends had to be cut though as the nuts rounded, so you'll need new track rod ends (which I'd recommend anyway, I'm going to have to get some  ).

Wait until you sort out the rods before you buy the ends, the outside of the rods can be female or male ends, they can be mixed and matched (one of each) but obviously the end has to match the corresponding rod.

And if you are buying rods make sure they are the right ones, people are trying fob off the wrong ones. Unfortunately the correct ones are hanging around £100 each, nobody is importing the cheaper ones to the UK and when they do they normally get the wrong ones..
